At the age of ten Paul returned home from a holiday in Spain as the proud owner of a souvenir present, a guitar. He started taking professional tuition whilst at Coopers School, Chislehurst before winning many awards and competitions. He furthered his studies with distinguished musicians Edward Moore and Raymond Burley whilst passing a music degree at Avery Hill College, Eltham. For many years he pursued a successful career as a classical guitarist giving concerts throughout Britain and making several recordings.

He now lives in Farnborough, Kent with his wife and two children. Here, shortly after the birth of his son Joshua in 1997, he discovered the rewarding world of pre-school music and formed the Jolly Dinosaurs Music Club. Putting together a unique blend of traditional and modern songs, and writing much of his own material, he developed a wealth of musical activities in a format that has since helped thousands of children to find an enjoyment and love of music from their earliest years.
